Exhibition and Performance at Residencia Corazon, La Plata, Argentina

I Ihave spent two months living at Residencia Corazon in La Plata, Argentina, working towards my exhibition here. The exhibition was a night of shadow puppets, music and food, with the gallery space being brightened by printed flags, drawings and a wall painting. Before working on the show, I constructed a cardboard wall with the screen in the middle, so that the one exhibition space was turned into two rooms. The shadow puppets were created from cut paper and improvised movement. It was performed to music and extracts of text we had recorded before, with live music played over the top of this. The audience were also given home made instruments and instructions about when to play them. The show ended with the three puppeteers breaking through the cardboard wall playing music and handing out empanadas and gingerbread men....
